THE THERAPY PROCESS
CHOOSING CBT/ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
If you are someone who appreciates a practical and forward-looking approach, then CBT/ACT may be a good approach for you (see the 'About CBT and ACT' page for more about these models). Whilst being sensitive to the impact of circumstances and events from the past, the focus will very much be on identifying what really matters to you (what you value) and how to manage areas of difficulty so that you might more ably move in those directions.
We will both be actively engaged in this process, and I will be encouraging feedback from you throughout to guide our work together. We all face similar challenges in life, but I will work to help you to gain a different perspective on whatever you may be struggling with and to acquire new skills to support your goals.

THERAPY SESSIONS
Appointments are offered on Monday-Thursday mornings, starting from 9.00am .
Some people are surprised to find that employers are willing to accommodate a later start to the day or a longer lunch hour with time made up later - it is worth asking....
Online CBT
I am currently offering online sessions only. Click here to go to the 'Online CBT' page for further information.
The first appointment is an 'assessment' session of 90 minutes. We use the time to establish an understanding of the problem/s you are experiencing (your feelings, thoughts, behaviours and, for some, physical concerns) and how things may have become 'stuck'. This helps us to clarify the goals for therapy.
On-going sessions are generally 60 minutes and take place on a weekly basis. The time between appointments will also be well-utilised, with opportunities to try out something different or to practice what you have learned in the sessions.
FEES
Please contact me directly (click here for the CBT contact form) for information about fees if you are self-funding. I am also able to accept insurance, eg from Bupa, Axa, Nuffield etc.
CONFIDENTIALITY
The work we do together will be confidential except where there is a legal obligation to break confidence or, in exceptional circumstances, if there are serious concerns for your welfare or that of others - this will be discussed at the initial appointment (or prior to meeting, if you have a particular concern).
